Ryan Giggs tells Manchester United to prove themselves against title rivals City and Chelsea

Ryan Giggs has challenged Manchester United to prove they can stand alongside title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

United face Chelsea and City after Monday's trip to West Brom, with Giggs acknowledging both encounters as a chance for the Reds to assess how far they have come under Louis van Gaal.

Giggs, assistant to Van Gaal , said: "Chelsea have probably been the standout team so far with City just behind them and we want to be up there testing ourselves against those teams.

"We feel that we do belong up there but we perhaps haven't shown it consistently this season."
United have won three of their last four Premier League games to rise to fourth in the table, with Giggs confident they can kick on.

"We've shown glimpses over the last few weeks and hopefully we'll have a lot of players coming back for those games," said Giggs.
"The form has slowly begun to get better and better and we want to hit form going into those matches."
